The Celestial Garden of Eternity

Three long-tailed birds inhabit a garden of lotus blossoms, branching stems and broad green leaves. Their crested heads rise above the flowers, while layered feathers descend towards the basin. Pink teardrop-shaped stones punctuate the plumage, set against fields of white, blue and green.

The composition unfolds through closely worked surfaces: fine gold-toned outlines trace individual feathers, veins radiate across the leaves, and small blossoms gather along slender branches. A blue butterfly rests above the central bird. Beneath it, water spills from a raised leaf into the shallow pool.

The dark, rounded basin carries the garden around its outer wall in flowering stems and curling, stone-set bands. Above this still foundation, the birds' sweeping tails and the falling water give the scene its sense of movement.
