The Orchid Eclipse

Three strands of pearl trace the passage from golden light into the quiet depths of evening.

The Orchid Eclipse is a sculptural high jewellery necklace celebrating the passage from light into shadow, from the warmth of day to the mystery of night. Three generous strands of cultured pearls graduate in tone across the décolletage: golden South Sea pearls on one shoulder yield, through silvery intermediaries, to deep Tahitian pearls of gunmetal lustre on the other. The transition is seamless, each pearl hand-matched for size and overtone so the colour appears to bloom rather than shift. At the meeting point of gold and grey, a sculpted orchid in white gold gathers the strands together. Its petals, fully pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds, curl with botanical precision around a softly tinted centre stone, lending the composition its focal gravity. The flower functions both as ornament and as a concealed clasp, so the necklace drapes without visible hardware. Worn, the piece settles with a satisfying weight against the collarbone. Candlelight catches the diamond orchid first, then travels along the pearls, illuminating each sphere in succession. It is a necklace designed for rooms that deserve it.
